Metrics 101
AI Visibility
What it is:
AI Visibility tells you how well your coverage is showing up inside AI LLLMs includingChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
Instead of technical scores, we translate everything into five easy-to-understand tiers so you instantly know how much impact each piece of coverage has inside AI-powered search.
Think of these tiers as your AI influence ladder: from “not on the radar yet” to “AI cites your coverage as trusted proof.” Overtime, this can help you strategize what outlets make the most sense, if AI visibility is important to you and your clients. In the coming weeks, PRCoverage.AI will introduce a new insights report designed to help you strategically apply these metrics to maximize long-term impact.
Understand Your Influence Tier:
1. Cited!
The highest possible validation.
This tier triggers when an AI model directly cites your article or podcast as a source.
It means:
The AI knows your coverage extremely well
Trusts it enough to reference it
And uses it when answering real user questions
This is PR’s new “front-page headline” moment - your story becomes part of the AI’s trusted knowledge base.
2. High
Your coverage is shaping AI conversations.
Even if the AI doesn’t cite the URL every time, it clearly “knows” your content. It’s familiar, memorable, and influential behind the scenes.
This tier means:
Strong presence in the model’s memory
High likelihood the AI draws from your messaging
Often achieved with top-tier outlets and authoritative coverage
3. Medium
Your coverage is known, but not prioritized.
The AI is aware of your content but treats it as supporting information rather than a key source.
This tier means:
Moderate familiarity
Occasional (but not consistent) surfacing
Typical for niche industry press or mid-tier outlets
4. Low
Your coverage is entering the AI ecosystem.
AI has minimal familiarity with the piece, but it’s starting to register.
This tier is common for:
New articles
Smaller outlets
Fresh coverage that hasn’t been widely distributed yet
5. Not Yet Indexed
Your coverage hasn’t entered AI awareness...yet.
It’s an opportunity to build visibility through stronger outlets or more distribution.
This is normal for:
Brand-new stories
Paywalled or restricted content
Outlets with low authority
💡 Tip: Use these tiers to tell a clear story to clients:
Cited! = AI cites your story
High = AI understands and uses your messaging
Medium = You’re recognized
Low = You’re entering AI awareness
Not Yet Indexed = Not visible yet, but a chance to improve
This makes AI Visibility easy to explain, easy to defend, and incredibly powerful for showing modern PR impact.
Domain Authority (DA)
What it is:
Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank on search engines. It’s measured on a 0-100 scale, with higher scores indicating greater credibility and influence.
Why it matters:
High-DA outlets are more authoritative, meaning coverage from them carries stronger SEO value and long-term brand visibility. It helps you show that your PR wins aren’t just about quantity, they’re about quality reach through trusted publications.
Included metrics:
Average Domain Authority - the overall average DA across all your coverage.
Peak Domain Authority - the single highest DA among your placements, perfect for spotlighting top-tier hits.
💡 Tip: Use DA to highlight credibility - a placement on a high-DA site isn’t just exposure, it’s validation from a trusted source.
Estimated Views
What it is:
Estimated Views gives you a grounded prediction of how many people are likely to actually see your coverage - not just how much traffic the publication gets overall.
Instead of relying on inflated impressions or vague “potential reach,” Estimated Views gives you a more realistic and honest visibility estimate based on where the article lives, how outlet audiences behave, and how similar content performs over time.
Why it matters:
Estimated Views bridges the gap between “a placement exists” and “this many people probably saw it.”
It helps you show real-world impact without the overpromising and guesswork that’s plagued traditional PR reporting for years.
For PR teams, it’s an easy way to add trust, transparency, and context to your reporting.
💡 Tip: Estimated Views pairs beautifully with AI Visibility. Together, they tell a complete story:
Estimated Views → human audience reach
AI Visibility → AI-era influence and long-term knowledge impact
It’s the most holistic way to show how far your coverage travels - both today and into the future.

Here’s a preview of what’s next:
Engagements
Traditional engagement metrics are broken. Most tools rely on Facebook or LinkedIn data - platforms that have locked down third-party access, making “engagement” numbers unreliable at best.
Instead of pretending we can pull data that API restrictions simply don’t allow, we’re rebuilding Engagements for where real conversations actually happen today. That means putting more emphasis on online communities like Reddit.
💡 Tip: These new metrics will roll out automatically, no extra setup needed. You’ll see them appear in your reports once available.
